THE FOUR BIG SAFETY RULES

Hunters have four very important safety rules. They are so important that we remember them with four letters: T, A, B, and K. TAB-K! Every safe hunter — even grown-ups who have hunted for many, many years — follows all four rules every single time.

Here is the secret about the rules: they work like blankets stacked on top of each other. If one blanket slips off, the others still keep you warm and safe. That is why we never skip even one rule.

In this course, you and your grown-up will learn each rule together. You don't have to remember everything at once — just listen, look at the pictures, and talk about each rule with your grown-up.

The letter T means: always act like a firearm is loaded, even if someone says it is empty. Why? Because we can never be sure just by looking, and being careful keeps everyone safe.

If you ever see a firearm anywhere — at home, at a friend's house, or outside — here is your job: STOP. Don't touch it. Walk away. Tell a grown-up right away. That is the bravest and smartest thing a young hunter can do.

When you are older, a grown-up will teach you how to check a firearm safely. For now, your superpower is knowing that firearms are never toys, and grown-ups are always in charge of them.
